IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!
You may not be aware that as of July 1, 2005 retailers are no longer required to label (as above) gasoline with 10% (or less) ethanol. In addition, our government is giving a 5.1 cent/gallon incentive to sell the ethanol-blended product. Nearly all auto manufacturers approve of ethanol (E-10), however some mechanics are still not convinced. The price difference may partially explain why unleaded today is 2.079 in Wichita, KS and 2.259 in Parsons, KS. Some of the larger retailers in metropolitan areas may have "switched" since July 1 to take advantage of the government incentive without telling us. How will we know? The octane does calculate to 89 rather than 87 as regular unleaded, so I suppose we could watch for that number in the little yellow box to change. But why the cover-up? Everyone knows ethanol is good for the corn farmers, we just don't know for certain if it's good for our cars. I would prefer that they just keep labeling it for what it is. What are YOU buying?

The Problem and The Solution
An interesting sequence of billboards. In the distance, Big Louie's Adult Store (you may have to click on it and enlarge to read it); and in the foreground, Jesus. Always put Jesus first. I don't usually post submitted photos, but my brother captured this one. It is on I-44 east of Springfield, MO. Thanks Dwight!

But Officer!!!.........
Cody has a comedy bit about this one. "What is it with these new odd speed limits?.... 'But officer!! I couldn't have been speeding...I just could NOT find 17 on my speedometer! There is 10, 20, 30... I found those....the next nearest was 170, so I was trying to get there!' " This sign is on the Afton exit from I-44.

Here's Your Sign......
Do you happen to have a place for an old motel sign? Do you happen to have a motel that you could name Maverick? In Fairland, OK their Maverick Motel is being converted into more residential care rooms. (Fairland already has about four or five such homes.) But a sign of this era, style and excellent condition deserves a new home! Just wish that I had room in my back yard, I'm sure my neighbors would love it.
Wasting Advertising Dollars?
This has puzzled me for a couple years, maybe someone can explain what this is for me. On the north side of Neodesha, KS on the same hilltop as the water tower, is this thing that looks somewhat like a billboard. However, there is no way to read it. It could be an old drive-in theater screen, but I can't find a road to get up the hill to it. If it were some kind of solar panel, I think it would be angled toward the sun. Any ideas?
