CYA

Every time I look at this welcome sign in Pittsburg, KS it seems so obviously to be a cover-up for a poorly planned and incorrectly spelled sign. Doesn't it appear that the spacing would be perfect if there were only one "T"? So, to make it seem intentional, the other welcome sign on the bypass is done exactly the same. Why not just purchase new letters and make it look right?

I think its just a way to look modern and "jazzy" or something - not to squeeze in a forgotten letter. You're just an old fuddie-duddie :)

Funny! I love the observation about the Pittsburg, KS sign. It seems very probable you're right! How cheesy!

It is certainly to cover-up the misspelling or they would have raised and lowered two of the last letters (maybe the U and the R).
