Traveling nearly 800 miles per week gives me many opportunities to witness and photograph the strangest of events. Some of those would never make the local newscast, let alone the newspaper. Thus, it seems my duty to describe and share this "Nearly Newz" with the public.

Parallel Parking Only
New construction on Monkey Island in Oklahoma at Shangri-la has created an interesting waste of space. Looks like they would have wanted to tear out the asphalt or plant grass before building the wall.
Is this another case of a sign ordered by phone? Should this say....."Funeral Home...Crematory & Cemetery Graves...Chapel"? Perhaps the Chapel's name is "Graves," or else some sicko has started putting graves IN the chapel. Coffeyville, KS is the home of this funeral home.
Someone has WAY to much TIME on their hands...These "tree" statues are in Coffeyville, KS. There is a pencil, giraffe, snake, the Twin Towers and more. Sorry, I can't tell you the artist's name.
Someone really needs to standardize the length of a mile for the sign industry. These four signs are ALL at the same intersection (Hwy 137 and 10) by Shawnee Grocery east of Miami, OK. Oh, if you were wondering, Twin Bridges State Park is AT the US-60 Junction.
Could this be a new version of the popular game, "Texas Hold'em" created by the famous boxer or Tony Holden Productions? I doubt it. Note to self: Never order a sign over the phone. This is on Main Street in Joplin, MO.
It's been said that SWIFT trucking stands for "Sure Wish I'd Finished Training." Perhaps this trucking company, CRST is "Can't Really Steer Trucks", or "Couldn't Really See the Trailer." No offense to the skilled truck driving work force of America, not knowing the circumstances of this incident. However, it was a truck driver buddy of mine that told me the SWIFT acronym and I'm sure there are many other jokes and stabs between truck lines.
Everyone knows the sign on the right means "stop ahead." So, the one on the left would be.....stop behind?....stop afoot?....stop below? Or, "hey, stupid, you shoulda stopped way back there!"
Is it just me, or is there a great deal of confusion over these three signs? I can't tell you how many times I've come upon the sign on the right ("merging traffic") when a vehicle in the incoming lane has the red sign in the center ("YIELD") and seems to think they have the right to do what the sign on the left says (lane ENDING, move left.) I don't think anyone knows how to yield, anymore.

Really, what could be interesting about me? My career of 30+ yrs has been convenience store related. Presently, I am selling fixtures and equipment and doing c-store design. Part-time, I am a sales manager at a Joplin location of the nation's 7th largest c-store chain. Before a brief career with Walgreens, I had supervised 5 salesmen in the Joplin area for a wholesale supplier. My first major career was with a dominant c-store chain in the midwest. Generally, I am creative, somewhat humorous, fun to be with and I love my family and the quirks of the English language. My computer is my friend, and I have over 300 frisbees. After 29 years, I have been divorced since fall of 2007. We have had great family vacations! I would also like to write a book of everything that I've ever written. (Hey, I'm done already!) I've invented about 100 things, patented zero, so someone else has always taken them to market before me and made millions, I'm sure. My family and friends are of great importance to me. Thanks for looking, feel free to email me or comment!
